First, is it dinner or supper?
I grew up where it was lunch at noon and dinner after work. I live where it is dinner at noon and supper after work.
Second, is it a meal or a catch as catch can?
When I was growing up, it was Dad popping popcorn using an aluminum pot with a wire doodad in the lid that would stir the popcorn kernals until they popped. Cover the bottom with oil, just the right amount of popcorn (he preferred white) heat, and rotate the lid.
He actually had a rhythm, clockwise, clockwise, counter-clockwise, and repeat. He make a couple potfulls, put it in a big bowl and salt lightly. Never a burned kernal, had a few virgins, but even those were eaten. For liquid refreshment: Vernor’s Ginger Ale or orange juice.
When I got married, it was established quickly that it was “you want it, you fix it.”
Tonight, I am having raw chocolate chip cookie dough with a side of NASCAR.
Bon appetit!
PS: no I won’t get worms.

@Rhea, my kind of woman!
I had dinner after church this morning. I had supper before church tonight.
I did not go to any “functions” after church, however, we did have a birthday party for one of the church members.
I have to say, it it still dinner at noon and supper at night for me.
@Turbine, good point, evening/night. Cake dough is another favorite snack at our house.
How do you get worms from eating cookie-dough?
Last night the kids had canned ravioli and Ben and I had leftover takeout pizza. The kids would have gladly had popcorn for dinner, though.
(Your momma was right, Wormy.)

Homemade cookie dough? I’d worry about e coli in the raw eggs. Store bought dough? Eat the whole batch. Only the preservatives will kill you. Nice to meet a fellow Cokehead.
