What a fine example you set! Rather than attack her experience of only visiting bleak and depressing homes why not direct her to the "lovely places" you appear so familiar with? Personally, I agree with her that many care facilities are nothing more than human warehouses with little aesthetic appeal and limited activity options. She is not saying that everyone over 50 needs to "move to the home" she is simply looking to improve the experience for those who through their own decisions or through family intervention do make that choice.
