OMG! It’s the Return of “Live in Fear” Doppler

Play this audio please:

We had a tornado warning this afternoon. Tornadoes in January in Kentucky are pretty rare. But it was warm here and southeast of us, and lots of thunderstorms, so it wasn’t totally unexpected that we would have severe weather.

But we have the Live-In-Fear Doppler Big News Weather Central weather guy on our local TV station. We’re a one horse town as far as TV news: only one local station has “local news and weather.”
This is our weather guy when the bad weather rolls in to our county:

Ayup, that’s him. Star of every tabloid television blooper show known to mankind. You’ll be seeing that video until he finally gets blown away by a giant rotating hook echo that may cause potentially possibly deadly circular straightline down updrafts.
He just goes absolutely NUTS when there is a heavy downpour with thunder and lightening. Let the national weather service issue a tornado watch or warning and he gets wood.
One evening this past summer, they broadcasted all evening during prime-time with nothing but Live-In-Fear-Doppler. Zoom-in, zoom-out, it may be raining here, but not here. Lightening can kill you if it hits you. Take cover in a ditch, even though you can’t hear me because I’m on television, and half the county is without power.
If it wasn’t so serious, it would be hilarious.
No it still is hilarious.

    Hey Sixty,

This post is causing all sorts of rendering type havoc when viewed in Firefox (both 2 and 3). Strangely enough it renders okay in IE 7.0. Besides that the video shows no longer available when you click on the pay button. It’s probably that lousy built in WP editor causing the problems when embedding videos since other videos in past posts have caused the same problems.

I strongly recommend you give Windows Live Writer (local blog editor) to write your posts. One of the great features it has is a built in “Insert Video” function that works real slick. Besides, it’s the best blog editor going. Shoot me an email and I’ll let you know what you have to do in order to have work on your computer properly.

Thanks Kirk: to people viewing in Firefox, sorry. I provided a link so you can see the video.

I get totally cracked up when weathermen go bonkers over bad weather - like they have no idea why someone would expect them to stay in the studio and keep the masses informed when they want to go run to the ‘fraidy hole and scream like a little girl.

@Redneck Diva: OK weather people have every right to go bonkers, especially what you have been thru this year.
But I am not joking: if there is a predicted thunderstorm, he starts talking tornado. It’s not like they are in a ratings battle.
BTW: the schools have been canceled here on the FORECAST of snow.
