Baucus – Crapo Bill: News from Flathead Valley

On Dec. 10, U.S. Senators Max Baucus (D-Mont.) and Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) introduced the S. 2438, the Fee Repeal and Expanded Access Act.

I’m guessing that the first name is pronounced Baw-cuss, and I have a really good idea that the second name is not Crap-o, but Crape-o. (There use to be some Crapos in the town I grew up in. Still are I guess.)

Never miss a chance to make fun of someone else’s name, especially when they are hundreds of miles away and up to their elbows in snow.

  1. I grew up in Maine, where there are a lot of people of French Canadian descent, and one common name in the area is “Crapeau”, which is indeed pronounced “crap-o”, although most people give the second syllable a slight emphasis so that it comes out more like “crap-OH”.

I am sure I have heard the Congressman’s name pronounced by newscasters as “crap-o”, but I don’t know if that’s correct or not.

  2. Hey We’re in Montreal Quebec. It is in fact a beeeautiful sity. Especially in the summer festivals. Merci beaucoup for the I”I love Ka-bec” 😉
