My parents gave me the first name and then decided to call me a nickname of my middle name. My husband's parents did the same with him, so we get a double dose. Another reason I don't use my first name is because that was also the name of the town tart in high school, and I wanted to distance myself so there was no confusion about who was willing to do what.
