Which Washington D.C. Hotel Is Hot With Tourists?

I guess the Mayflower Hotel is this generation’s Watergate?
The Washington Post says their gift shop is being over run by tourists who want a terry-cloth robe ($69.99) coffee cups, candy mints, and other trinkets with the saying “Washington’s Second Best Address” a phrase used by Truman.
One enterprising guest decided to take something truly special and removed the numbers (871) from the “Spitzer Suite.” (Sounds like a mouthwash doesn’t it.)
Didja know another woman used to eat lunch there every day for 34 years while in service to our country?

Is it me or is that stupid? My Marriotts (I am a marriott chick for travel) sells their damned stuff (bathrobes, duvets, covers, etc) through catalogs. WTF is that?
