And, oh, say, "Edward" decided to get a lawyer to say you libeled him. And your dad wasn't a lawyer. So you get a subpoena asking for shitloads of material. You might be inclined to be discouraged about sharing such information in the future? But once subpoenaed it costs $$$, even to get it quashed.
