Ah, Spring, the Time to Think of Eating Small, Cute Animals

I remember the fun I had when I took a class on how to de-bone a turkey. Sharp knives, men, whacking meat.

When I read this:

“it’s Spring again and men and women’s fancy turn to eating small cute animals.”

I knew this butcher was my kind of guy. He has his priorities straight. This is my life, this is what I do, people like it, so I will teach them how to cut up small, cute animals.

May 6th to take us through how to cut up a WHOLE lamb (technically it’s actually an older Sheep, but lamb sounds so much nicer), while explaining where common and some uncommon cuts come from on the animal. … and each attendee will receive a portion (approx 6-8lbs) of mutton to take home.

The only downside to the class is the lack of “hands-on” butchery. That’s a shame.
But Monday, May 19th sounds like fun, “Knife Skillz” (no he spelled it skills, but he should have made the class title “Mad Knife Skillz.”
I wonder if our community ed program director would think it weird if I requested a class for “How to Whack a Lamb” or “Mad Knife Skillz.”

    Being a butcher is right up there next to being a dental hygienist on the list of GROSS JOBS.

    @Rhea: butchers don’t slaughter the small cute animals, they just cut them up. :)

    I think my son Sam would make a good butcher. He enjoys dissection and is fascinated by the idea that a pork shoulder roast is actually made from a pig’s shoulder.

    Me? I don’t think I could eat any part of an animal I had seen in whole form, dead or alive.

    @Gretchen: You don’t do meat? Certainly you have seen live edible animals!

    @Thornton: great cartoon.
