I knew that about the poppies. Americans are so widely hated that I think destroying the poppies would push it over the edge. Things are bad enough in Afghanistan without us wiping out their bread and butter.

Although I agree heroin is evil. The more a mind-altering chemical is distilled into its most concentrated form, the more the potential for addiction and abuse. This is why South American natives can chew coca leaves and not run into trouble, or why people can smoke opium and not end up junkies.
