Archie Will Chose Between Betty and Veronica

archiebettyveronica

Archie will finally choose between Betty, shown here in an updated drawing as a buxom ditzy blonde stripper, and Veronica, the raven haired buxom stripper. (Notice the difference?)

And what’s up with Archie’s look?

Archie will choose between Betty Cooper or Veronica Lodge in comic book #600.

More Realistic Archie, Betty, Veronica

More Realistic Archie, Betty, Veronica

Archie has been enjoying his threesome for sixty years. So will Archie really choose between Betty or Veronica?

Not so fast says Gillian Gelling.

For starters, this is a marketing ploy to get people (who are not me) to read Archie again. They tried this same tactic a few years ago with “The Love Showdown,” in which Betty and Veronica finally forced the ginger-haired one to choose between them both. And who did he go with? Cheryl Blossom, the snobby, redheaded Pembroke Academy transfer, thus bonding Betty and Veronica in their new quest to oust this conniving bitch and forget their squabbles over the checker-head for a while. We had to deal with Cheryl for about a year or two, but they eventually managed to squash her and free up their own little love triangle once more.

Conniving bitch indeed.

Archie will choose between Betty and Veronica?

Here’s the rundown according the Gillian

Betty:

She’s smart, sweet, perky, athletic, cute, can cook, and adores Archie with all her heart. She deserves it! She’s the best! But my guess is she’s becoming too smart for him these days. Five years from now, Betty will either be in politics, a famous journalist, or working with Doctors Without Borders delivering HIV medication to African refugees.

Veronica:

Ronnie, though beautiful and spoiled, does not lack for brains. She’s inherited her father’s knack for business and in five years will no doubt be on the board of Lodge Enterprises, amassing a fortune of her own.

Archie will choose between Betty and Veronica?

Archie will probably choose Reggie.

Tennessee and Kentucky Mountains Are Disappearing To Claim Coal So We Can Have Electricity and Jobs.

What’s your call on this issue? Stop the removal of mountain tops in Kentucky and Tennessee so we can have cheap electricity all over the Tennessee Valley and dangerous jobs in Eastern Kentucky and Tennessee?

Let the coal companies continue to operate to provide the catalyst for dirty air choking US/U.S. changing the environment?

Force the coal companies to invest billions and reinvent the way they mine coal?

Spend billions on reinventing the way coal is burned to generate electricity?

Or just sit on our hands and let somebody else worry about it?

Congress Kills Our Free Travel on Southwest

The credit card companies need to clean up their act. But they will not change willingly so it takes an Act of Congress.
I think the last time the credit card companies acted like they really wanted our business, Rod Stewart was a Young Turk.
The last time the gummit got involved to big extent, they took away the tax deduction for all consumer loan debt, including credit card debt. Thanks Ronnie! Of course, we were head over heels in consumer loan debt, and that hit us pretty hard. We didn’t change our spending habits, so that amounted to a big tax increase.
We’re now free of credit card debt, but we still use our Southwest Airlines Visa card for EVERYTHING. Because we like to fly free on Southwest Airlines.  After Toronto, Milwaukee was our next target.
Southwest still has the best plan when it comes to earning free travel. For every $1200 charged on Visa,  Southwest Airlines awards one credit. Sixteen credits earns a free round trip ticket anywhere Southwest flies.
We earn about four free tickets a year, and have been averaging that for a decade.

I anticipate that credit card companies will begin charging interest from time of purchase, rather than giving us time to pay them off completely and earn those free rewards. After all Congress took away all those other fees and terms and conditions that they leveraged into gigantic revenue streams.

If that’s the case, our credit cards will go away and we’ll start using a debit card, and (sigh) start paying for airline tickets. Southwest will probably still get the bulk of our travel biz because the are the Low Cost Airline that flys in and out of NashVegas.

Bummer.

Huffington Post Fails At Crowdsoucing GM Dealer Closing List

The GM dealer closing list is remains a hot topic. Since GM has not released the dealer closing List, Huffington Post is trying to crowdsource the list.

Crowdsourcing is supposed to be the new wave of journalism, according to yahoos like Jeff Jarvis.

Here’s how it is supposed to work. GM has a list of dealer closings. They don’t release the list to the general public. No matter, a giant blog like Huffington Post just asks their millions of readers to submit what they know to Huffington Post and a list of GM dealer closings appears.

Except when it doesn’t.

This is exactly why local newspapers and the AP still have a role in gathering news. They are close to the market and can put a couple reporters on the phone and start calling around. Or they have sources inside GM, and the GM dealer closing list is leaked.

Oh, and BTW, the Huffington Post won’t just take your word that you are sending them facts. No siree Bobbie. They want you to link with a “confirmed source.” Which I’m guessing means, they want you to link to a newspaper or television station report.

We are only posting confirmed closures of GM dealerships, so please include a link to a news report in your email.

Here’s the list of GM Dealer Closing compiled through crowdsourcing so far…

Out of an estimate 1,100 dealers on the GM dealer closing list, Huffington Post has only gotten 73 names. An Epic Fail in crowdsourcing.

But you won’t read Jeff Jarvis spewing any venom toward Huffington Post and the failure of crowd sourcing. He says newspapers blew it, and he’s sticking to it, even when the evidence clearly demonstrates that crowdsourcing isn’t working on a simple story like the GM dealer closing list.

Jarvis writes for Huffington Post. He teaches. He doesn’t work at a newspaper.

Stand by for the General Motors dealer closing list. It will be here as soon as GM releases it.

UPDATE: If you’re visiting from RapidCityJournal.com, I’m not usually as rude as I was to Jeff Jarvis in the comments. He’s just such a blow hard that I lost control. If you comment, I’ll be nice. Promise.
