Let Me Tell You About My Wife’s Filing

Nancy does a lot of things great.
Nancy does a lot of great things.

Filing isn’t one of them.

She is the only person I know who had to take “Filing” as a college course.
And she got a D.

Here’s a screenshot of our desktop. (click image to enlarge.)

She still hasn’t grasped the idea of filing.
I’ve given up.

Let Me Tell You About My Wife’s Filing — 7 Comments

  1. @Catch Her in the Wry: Only because I can change a setting on the computer that forces everything into rows and columns and sort by file type! 🙂
Wish there was a setting like that in her knitting/craft/embroidery/sewing hideout.

  2. Yup. Uh, I was going to say, uh, that’s a setting.

My mother’s desktop looks the same way. A few years back, she refused to put anything on the desktop because my brother told her that it took up too much RAM. hahahahahha. Now it looks like hell. she had three shortcuts to IE on her desktop.

I overorganize to the point where I can’t find a damned thing. I work off of my desktop exclusively. But each area on the desktop has a particular purpose. I will usually have about 8 to 10 folders on my desktop, but they will have many folders within. You would NEVER see my desktop looking like that. I would kill myself.

But I really do work exclusively off of my desktop. Don’t ask me to ever put anything in that crappy ass “My documents” thing. WTF is that anyway? Jesus Christ. You can’t find it anywhere.

Then go ask me to get you a file after I just reorganized a bunch of shit. Nope. I can’t find it. I overorganized. Or check out my Outlook. My inbox will always be clean. But hell if I can find anything because I organize to the point where I can’t find shit.

  3. @Absurdist: we live by search… Picassa for images and use Gmail because of the search feature. Now I just need to get her to name things other than “embroidery misc.” etc. 🙂

  4. I use both Picassa and Flickr for sharing photos over the internet but i use Flickr more often than Picassa.*,*
