Rainy Season: September Rain in Atenas Costa Rica

I’m guessing this is a pretty unusual rainfall amount for September, supposedly one of the most rainy months of the year.

We had just 8.75 inches of rain at Sedolsoder.

Just ten days of measurable precip… biggest rain was September 17, but it was only 1.5 inches.

We had three days with just a trace of rain, enough to wet the bottom of the rain guage.

Additionally, only a few days were overcast/cloudy from sunup to sundown.

Here’s the unreal part. We had many days that were perfect!  Temps in the mid 80s, sunny and breezy.  I was gone for the last half of the month but my assistant weather watcher reported that “if this is rainy season, I can handle it!”

Yes, we both were fearing the September/October weather. Last year was hellish, with one day in October hitting us with a deluge of 10 inches of rain in 24 hours, with lots of cloudy, gloomy, rainy days.

Yeah, we can handle this.

Famous last words?

Please stand by.
