Obama Speech Not Marred by “You Lie” But Alito Mouthing “Not True” Was Worse

President Obama took a bit during the State of the Union speech to agree with me that corporations should not not have unlimited free speech.

Nobody yelled “you lie” but a Supreme Court justice clearly mouthed the words, “not true.”

Worse.

Much worse.

What a frickin’ dipshit!
Even if he is right, can’t a Supreme Court justice keep his damn trap shut and sit quietly without injecting his opinion?

…the behavior of Justice Alito at last night’s State of the Union address — visibly shaking his head and mouthing the words “not true” when Obama warned of the dangers of the Court’s Citizens United ruling — was a serious and substantive breach of protocol that reflects very poorly on Alito and only further undermines the credibility of the Court…

He kept shaking his head during the applause. Take a look at Bader-Ginsberg. You think that scowl woman’s scowl didn’t scare Barry more than Alito.

Alito’s action reinforces that this Supreme Court is an activist one and chose this First Amendment case to make a political point: corporations should control more of the political process.

Glenn Beck Loses 57 Advertisers for Fox

glennbeckjoker1Don’t screw around on Fox News, like Glenn Beck does, and expect nobody to notice.  ColorOfChange, was watching and when Glenn Beck called President Obama a racist, with a “deep hatred of white people” they sprung into action.

So far 57 advertisers have listened to Color of Change, eleven more just recently:

Free speech, you betcha. But you have to admire the companies who have made the moral and ethical decision not to support Glenn Beck and his ridiculous attack.

Cash for Clunker Crybabies

Oh puh-leeze, the Cash for Clunker Crybabies have just about pushed me to the limits.

First, when the program had been operation for just ten days, an owner of 20 dealerships in the east was crying about how long it took to do the paperwork for Cash for Clunkers. He was bitchin’  because he had to pay a clerk  (probably making $10 an hour) to sit in front of a computer for a few hours to submit the paperwork to collect $4,500 free money collected from you and me.

Now the paperwork is in the gummit’s hands, here’s the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) aka CFCC (Cash for Clunker Crybabies) are crying they aren’t getting their money quick enough.

The National Automobile Dealers Association estimates that dealers have hundreds– and in some cases thousands — of applications pending that are

“worth hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars.”

Peter Kitzmiller, president of the 325-member Maryland Automobile Dealers Association said:

“It is ludicrous at this point, We’ve got deals that are just sitting there waiting to be reviewed. The customer is gone, the car is gone, and you don’t have your money.”

Damn Republicans. (And new car dealers are all Republicans.) They cry that something needs to be done to save the U.S. car business. Obama does something.

They cry that Obama is moving too fast on the stimulus.

They cry that the stimulus idea is bad for the economy.  Cars fly out of the showrooms at record pace – after 18 months of gathering dust.  Factories go on overtime to keep up with demand.

They cry that they aren’t getting their money fast enough. They want quicker turn-around. They want bigger goverment to handle the Cash for Clunkers program.

By the end of the week, up to 1,100 people will be working full time to process cash for clunker reimbursements.

They cry that government is getting too big.

How long would you sit (or pay someone to sit)  in front of a computer to collect $4,500?

Damn Cash for Clunker Crybabies. They give money to McCain, cry that Obama got elected,  line up at the public trough and then cry that the slop is too sour.

President Obama Apologizes, is a Class Act.

Even though I agree that the cops in Boston acted “stupidly,” I don’t know all the facts.

I think all parties acted stupidly.

BUT: Obama apologized. The cop didn’t, yet. I hope he does. And I hope Gates does too.

And then, as President Obama said, this can be a “teachable moment.”

And then he invited everybody involved to have a beer.

Class.

President Obama today backpedaled from his comment that the Massachusetts police who arrested Henry Louis Gates Jr. “acted stupidly,” the New York Times reports. In an unannounced appearance at the daily White House briefing, Obama said he “could have calibrated” his words more carefully in speaking on the incident, adding that he’d expressed his regrets in a call to Sgt. James Crowley earlier today. The call ended with the suggestion that he, Crowley and Gates, a renowned black scholar, grab a beer sometime at the White House, the president said. Obama said the arrest and surrounding media frenzy had pulled attention away from health reform, but that he hoped the case can be looked at as a “teachable moment” for improving relations between police and minorities.
