48 People Murdered Yesterday
nd today, and tomorrow.
Not in the same general area, and not by one person, but stats indicate that one person is murdered every 30 minutes in the U.S.
I’m not trying to trivialize the murders at Virginia Tech. But Americans (U.S.) tend to have very short memories about our feelings. Our collective sadness tends to fade when television resumes its normal programming. Except when it’s in the interest of the politicians to keep us in fear – 9/11.
With a presidential election down the pike, the politicians don’t want a discussion of gun control. Both sides would just as sooon avoid it. So there will be no congressional hearings about violence. There will be no posturing on who’s to blame. There will be no action taken.
And the murders will continue at the highest rate in the industrial world.
Great point. Why in the world do we need guns? There is no reason to own them.
Thanks.
I don’t have a problem with guns for hunting. Rifles and shotguns. But automatic and semi-automatic weapons and pistols are meant only to kill other humans.
But the NRA is so strong that there will never be meaningful gun control in my lifetime.
