Not Just Aging Parents, Everyone Should Know
Rhea at The Boomer Chronicles reminds us that there are important papers that our “aging parents” should have in order.
But these are the kinds of papers that everyone should be able to put their hands on readily when needed.
- insurance (Medicare/Medicaid number, other policies)
- doctors (names and contact information)
- medical history (medications, allergies, conditions, procedures)
- identification (Social Security, military ID, driver’s license numbers)
and the list goes on. It’s a good one.
If you live in an area that gets bad storms – bad enough to blow your house away or flood it out – you should have these papers in a container that is waterproof and easy to grab to take to your shelter.
We have a “storm-basket” that we keep stocked with the emergency stuff. Then we throw our in our other stuff we can’t be without (money, meds, purse, wallet, car keys, etc.) and make sure we keep it close by until the emergency passes.
