Wallstrip.com – Best Vlog on the Web is Just a Year Old
A while back, I stumbled across a young woman doing a video blog about a single stock. I loved the first few vlogs I watched, and now it’s a regular morning thing with me.
Wallstrip.com launched a year ago today. While the clothing and production values have improved over time, the quality started high and remains high. They take a pretty mundane subject: stock analysis and make it fun.
The cool part (for me) was that I discovered them before they became a gigantic hit and were eventually sold to CBS.
Here’s one of my all time favorite Wallstrip.com video blogs. It appeared on 12/06/06, less than two months after their launch.
I knew then that a woman who was articulate, pretty, willing to take this kind of punishment and have fun, with a New York attitude, would make the program a winner.
Ms. Campbell, he wrote, is “said to be” the reason for the acquisition. “Campbell has talent but if this was the driving reason behind the buy, they’d better hope she can tap dance as well” (techcrunch.com).The site says Ms. Campbell is an actress. While she holds her own in her mostly humor-driven reports and interviews, she has no previous financial or journalism experience.
The New York Times said in 2005
Ms. Campbell is a 28-year-old actress with soft eyes and creamy skin who has the studied grace of, well, an actress.
But she will get knocked on her butt or roll around with butts on the hoof if it makes for a good show.
Ms. Campbell’s favorite episode, she said, featured her cavorting in the mud with live hogs on a farm in upstate New York while discussing Premium Standard Farms (whose ticker symbol is PORK).
As with any successful venture she is backed up by an excellent team of writers and producers.
I put together a loose two pager and sent to Adam Elend . I met him through the blogosphere. Adam and his partner Jeff Marks had style and we hit it off.
You don’t have to be an investor to appreciate their work. The vlog is short – four or five minutes. The stocks she talks about are usually household names or names in the news. What makes them unusual is that they are stocks that are selling at an all time high.
I recommend you take a look, it’s good entertainment!
