We Saw “The Kingdom” it Reminded Me of This Toy
What kid doesn’t need a loveable little terrorist action figure to blow up his GI Joes and Thomas the Tank?
The movie had a lot of action, mostly stuff blowing up and a lot of gunplay. Remember Patriot Games where the good guys were all packed in a dead end alley in their Chevy Suburbans, but they shot their way out?
Same deal here.
The bad guys had RPG’s and a bazillion rounds of ammo and where shooting out from windows and rooftops to the good guys who were hiding behind car doors. All the bad guys eventually got dead.
Obviously Jennifer Gardner was in the movie just for her name. Her part could have been played by anybody – including a man. I think central casting said: “get me those guys from the Bourne movies and anybody that plays a spy on television.”
The ending was different – the good guys said don’t worry, we will kill them all. The bad guys said, don’t worry we will kill them all.
My kids don’t so much do this; they’re into horror toys, zombies and Frankensteins and evil clowns and such. No threat from terrorists, but watch out for the undead.
Sounds like a typical action movie. Guys will watch ANY movie which involves lots of stuff getting blown up.
Hi Gretchen,
Thanks for weighing in on what kids are into toywise. You’re right about the prick flicks too.
I REALLY wanna see this movie, but I was hoping it might be a little more thoughtful on the whole “I’ll look the other way if you gimme your oil” thing. Like “Crash” maybe. Should I wait for the DVD?
Thanks for the tip on the Chiari operation post. I published it and then remembered a lot of children from the school where I teach check my blog daily. I thought them clicking on to the operation might be a little much for a lot of them so I removed it just in case. (I AM going to watch it…probably a little later, after my incision heals, at least.) Hope your daughter is doing well and thanks for the tip.

Hi Rick.
It is NOWHERE near the quality of Crash, which I consider to be one of the best movies ever.
The stuff blowing up is more fun on the big screen, but its a pretty ordinary plot.
