Baucus – Crapo Bill: News from Flathead Valley
I’m guessing that the first name is pronounced Baw-cuss, and I have a really good idea that the second name is not Crap-o, but Crape-o. (There use to be some Crapos in the town I grew up in. Still are I guess.)
Never miss a chance to make fun of someone else’s name, especially when they are hundreds of miles away and up to their elbows in snow.
I grew up in Maine, where there are a lot of people of French Canadian descent, and one common name in the area is “Crapeau”, which is indeed pronounced “crap-o”, although most people give the second syllable a slight emphasis so that it comes out more like “crap-OH”.
I am sure I have heard the Congressman’s name pronounced by newscasters as “crap-o”, but I don’t know if that’s correct or not.
@Brian: thanks! Nice to know about the Crapeau. I love Ka-beck.
