Shades of Tom Hanks in Castaway
Tom Hanks is a great actor. Anyone that can carry an entire movie about being deserted on an island is special.
Remember the scene where after much frustration and bleeding hands, he gets makes a fire? The beach scene…
STABLE WIRELESS… I, GOING LIKE SIXTY, HAVE STABLE WIRELESS.
Nancy gets all the credit.
I tried.
I installed a LinkSys wireless router.
Doink, in the evening when traffic was highest, I’d get booted. I would have to reset the cable modem and the router. It would happen a couple times a night.
So I got a Netgear router. One with omni-directional antenna.
NETGEAR’s RangeMax Wireless Router (WPN 824) extends your wireless network coverage up to 10 times that of standard 802.11g due to an advanced Smart MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology that incorporates seven intelligent internal antennas.
Uh no. Still really unstable. If I hit a graphics heavy site, or one with multiple scripts:
Doink, booted. Reset modem. New problem. Once booted, I had trouble getting back on without restarting desktop and laptop. Even that would fail. I succumbed to buying and calling tech support.
Nancy saved the day.
She reads every page of every insert in the Sunday newspaper. That’s her routine. Staples had a Netgear “whole house” router with installation on sale. We moseyed on over to the old strip mall and got their only one in stock.
For two days I have had stable wireless. Boo-yah.
Thank you for the early Valentine’s Day present dear. I love it.
If I can use it next summer on the porch swing… ahhhhhhh…
Dude, you might as well be speaking Swahili. You’re like the Gen X’er of Boomers. I mean, THEY all understand this shit. I can just about use EZ Blogger Lite for Morons.
@Gretchen: if you had unstable wireless, you would realize what lovely present this was.
