TLC Remodeled Trading Spaces: Takes an Old Paige
Trading Spaces was one of the home decorating shows that I enjoyed and usually watched pretty regularly. It was on TLC, and repeated often enough that if I didn’t see it when it first aired, I would catch a rerun.
We would get pretty involved in making fun of the “before” and then go “ga-ga” over the after. We also knew that TV made those rooms look a lot better than the did in real life.
Then it changed. Paige Davis the perky personable blond was gone. Over a period of time, we stopped watching.
She got fired.
I didn’t know that!
The TLC producers tinkered with the format that spawned a whole bunch of imitators and as a result, they got left in the dust.
… I’m happy that Paige is returning. When she was let go Trading Spaces really lost all of the energy that it had and let the other home improvement shows walk all over it. Sure, her return is not going to catapult the show back into the fan favorite it was a few years ago, but it should help people remember that the is still on. I know I’ll be recording it just to see what it’s like.
I liked Genevieve, Frank, and Hildi (and her always-present high heels.) I can’t remember the other designers, only that they weren’t my favorites. The carpenter on the show was Ty Pennington who went on to bigger and better things.
If you’re a fan, you probably know she is married to Patrick Page, so she could be known as Paige Page.
I’m such a dork, but she seems like a nice person. I’m glad she’s back on TV.
She did make the show.
O.K. you old farts… let’s do a quick “F…, MARRY, KILL” using chicks from Trading Spaces:
Laura Day
Laurie Hickson-Smith
Paige Davis
I would F… Paige Davis because she’s perky and looks like she’d be fun in the sack, I would marry Laurie because I really dig redheads, and I’d kill Laura Day.
Well, you know, it sure is refreshing to see her back on the show. The show was so much better when she was on it. She doesn’t quite look the same, there was something going on with her hair, but she did bring back alot of energy.
