Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk. The Lamest School Chant EVER.
This statement is coming from a parent who sent kids to Monmouth, IL High School, where the team name was Zippers.
Can’t Get Our Zippers Down
Oldest daughter went to Ball State University which is a small rival to Indiana University. First weekend home she wore tee shirt: I’d Rather Ball U than I U
So I know of what I speak when I say Rock, Chalk, Jayhawk is way lame.
Here’s the freaky part, it comes because an English professor at Kansas University thought the school song could be changed from “Rah, Rah, Jayhawk” to “Rock Chalk Jayhawk.”
I guess there was a bunch of whitish soft stone in Kansas.
Now there are whitish soft students.
I SO don’t get the KU chant either?! As a grad of their primo enemy, I am suppose I am to be on the defense, but seriously… retarded.
@Eve: They have so many primo enemies. Welcome! New here? Or just delurked? At any rate, have fun.
Oh, don’t forget when we lived in Ft. Branch, IN and the chant was (against us) “Snap those twigs”! They were called the Twigs at one time!

@Nancy: but that makes sense: Branch/Twigs/Snap. 🙂
Nope, I’m new. Just kind of stumbled in…
Yeah, Mizzou here. We had drunken jayhawk pinata on graduation night at Harpos… *snicker*
I do realize that I filled out your comment thigamabob like completely wrong before…
