Violent Acres: Comment Here on Curlys and Straights
Violent Acres weighs in on body image. Since she doesn’t allow commenting, feel free to spout off here.
Anna disagreed and as I carefully combed through her brilliantly bouncy locks, she pouted. “I wish I had straight like you!”
Shocked, I insisted, “But Anna! Your hair is gorgeous! I would die for hair like yours!”
With a perplexed sigh, she told me, “V! Don’t you know all the straights want to be curlys and all the curlys want to be straights?”
Ironical ad on her site – it’s a CURLY:
I’ve been both. During the Boolie pregnancy, my hair turned curly for some reason, then went straight again after she was born. (Ergo the bad perm I got because I missed the curlies, ergo the cutting off all the hair.)
I’ll take curly any day. My Sam is a curly; Erika, Matt and Boolie are straights. Last night Sam was fluffing up his curls after his shampoo and Boolie was trying to do the same, to make her hair curly. I told her it was a lost cause, and it is.
@Gretchen: cute your little girl wants to be a pretty as your little boy. In SoCal, pretty boys probably do all right. Not making a judgement.
The fact that she refers to the kid as a “little boy” in the beginning makes me think that this story isn’t true.
