I’ve been doing a lot of cooking lately since Nanc’ is a lefty. Lefty as in, her right hand is immobile. We’ve been eating pretty well, if I do say so myself.

We’re both on a restrictive diet: she’s trying to control her diabetes and I”m trying to control my weight.

If you are a dog owner, here’s the question of the day:

Would you cook for your dog?

My friend Lisa sent me To Your Dog’s Health.

We are rip and pour dog feeders. We rip open a bag and scoop out some dry kibble and let the dogs chow down. They are all fed at the same time. Sedona chows down on two cups of kibble, Oliver chows down on one cup, Derby is an all day snacker on his one cup, and Sofi waits until about 8 p.m. to eat her 1/2 cup.

They seem happy about it, but what choice do they have?

Reading the first 5/8ths of this book put me on a real guilt trip. Even though we don’t buy the crap on the shelves at the local discount store or grocery store, we’re still a long way from giving our dogs a healthy yummy diet.

If you have dogs, you’ve heard that it’s bad to feed them “table food.” Come to find out, if you’re eating right, your dog will be eating better than if you feed them dry kibbles.

The author doesn’t advocate feeding your dog table food, but he does advocate a raw food diet! We are eating a fair amount of raw foods: veggies!

Mark Proveromo, the author, says I need to start cooking for our dogs.

Yeah. I’ll get right on that.

But, if I was going to start cooking for them, this is a book I would use, Mark (nice name) has a bunch of recipes from a raw diet to home cooked.

He offers advice and recipes and nutrients for dogs with diabetes and recipes for dogs with cancer.

He is a holistic guy.

Feeding your dog on his diets isn’t cheap either!

But there is relief! If you are like me, and don’t want to cook for anybody – including your dog, he has a list of brand name prepared dog foods. Whew!

The only way I”m cooking for our dogs will be the same day I let them clean up our plates. And that isn’t here – yet.
